Our History

Seaway Fluid Power was founded in 1976 as Industrial Hose & Hydraulics Ltd. in Hamilton, Ontario. With a handful of staff, and backing from an equal number of suppliers, they set out to distribute quality hose & couplings at competitive prices to industry.

Business boomed and they expanded to a two branch operation by 1982. Industrial Hose & Hydraulics opened the new branch at 115 Cushman Rd. St. Catharines and would soon become a household name throughout Niagara’s industrial sector.

In 2004, operations were moved to today’s 15000 square foot facility at 11 Cushman Rd. that allowed for many areas of expansion including our Hose Assembly Testing program and greater levels of inventory.

Located in St. Catharines, Ontario, clientele worldwide call upon us daily to resolve todays toughest challenges. Marine, Mining, Oilfield, and Construction are just some of the more familiar fields we are involved with. Time and time again terminology is misunderstood, increasing downtime and frustration, ultimately decreasing profits.

Here at Seaway Fluid Power, we prefer a hands on approach. We realize technical knowledge and information is crucial to obtaining optimum performance of your equipment. Let our specialists identify the right product for you. As purchasing trends today tend to favour single source supply, the Hose & Fitting market had become a price war and Seaway Hose & Hydraulics felt the need for change.

The initial step in the transformation was the acquisition of Nielsen’s Maintenance, a service station and industrial maintenance contractor specializing in compressed air systems. Seaway Hose & Hydraulics had experienced great success in the sales of air compressors, but this merger would allow us to broaden our reach into installations, maintenance, and system design. Beyond that, many other products such as pressure washers, transfer pumps, and lubrication equipment could now be serviced in house. Nielsen’s meshed well immediately and has substantially elevated our recognition as Niagara’s compressed air experts.

The next stage in our transition was to gain market share in the hydraulic component sector. The idea was nearly a decade old, but soon it began to evolve into a reality. Now offering a full blown hydraulic shop combining sales, service, parts, and warrantied workmanship, PVM Hydraulics gives the market a new alternative with familiar faces. The economic downturn has offered countless opportunities to build a hybrid team of good people. PVM Hydraulics has assembled a staff with decades of combined experience in hydraulics, machining, fabrication, and heavy equipment repair to offer a truly unique advantage for any customer.

Coupling these services with the hands on supply expertise that Seaway Fluid Power already has to offer, gives us a unique advantage over our competition and a true value added experience.
